Description

The WSET Level 3 Award in Wines is an advanced qualification designed for industry professionals and dedicated wine enthusiasts looking to deepen their knowledge and tasting skills.

Building on the WSET Level 2 curriculum, this course involves tasting 50+ wines using the WSET Level 3 Systematic Approach to Tasting (SAT) to analyze wine quality and style. Participants will explore the key wine-producing regions and grape varieties worldwide, delving into the environmental factors, viticulture, and winemaking practices that shape these wines. We’ll also study labeling terms, geographical indications (GIs), and how they relate to wine origin, quality, and style. This course includes practical elements such as proper wine storage, service, and food pairing principles, alongside detailed theoretical knowledge.

Your tuition includes the WSET Level 3 Study Guide, enrollment fee, all wines, food, printed materials, exam fee, certificate, and lapel pin (upon passing the examination).

Class Format

Offered in hybrid formats which included tasting & theory practice days, as well as virtual tasting and lectures. Total qualification time for the Level 3 Award in Wines is 84 hours, made up of 32.5 teaching hours (including the 2.5 hour examination). This course requires study with an extra 51.5 hours of at-home self-study and revision.

Assessment

Unit 1 is assessed by a closed-book exam of 50 multiple-choice questions and a short-written answer paper. 
Unit 2 is assessed by a blind tasting of two wines.

Resit Examination Information

If the candidate fails their exam, they can re-sit at a future date. Re-sit examination fee is as follows:
Theory re-sit only: $200
Tasting re-sit only: $150

Theory & Tasting resit: $350
The missed exam fee is $75.

Entry Requirements

You must be at least 21 years of age or older to attend the course and to participate in any alcohol tasting at the time of enrollment. It is recommended that you hold the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines or can demonstrate an equivalent level of knowledge.

Registration closes 21 days before the first class.

Refunds/Changes

If you need to cancel or change the date of the course for any reason you must do so 14 working days before the course starts, and we will charge a $30 administrative fee. Making changes to your reservation within 13 business days of the start date will result in an administrative change fee of 50% of the cost of the course. No refunds are given for changes made within 3 business days of the start of the course. Reorder fees will apply.
